Diosdado Lopez elected to vacant Holyoke City Council seat

Diosdado Lopez returns to the City Council after a 4-year break

HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke City Council is back up to full strength after the council elected Diosdado Lopez to fill a vacant at-large seat Tuesday night.

It took a dozen votes, but the 13 Holyoke City Councilors at Tuesday’s meeting elected Diosdado Lopez to complete Jennifer Chateauneuf‘s term. Chateauneauf resigned just three months into her second term in early April.

Lopez was sworn in as the 15th Holyoke City Councilor and, after shaking every other councilor’s hand, took his assigned seat and got down to council business.

Lopez is no stranger to the Holyoke City Council. He had previously served on the city council before he took a four-year break, after deciding not to seek re-election in 2011.
