CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – New England’s power grid says they’re confident the region will have enough resources to meet the demand over the summer months. Electricity demand typically spikes during in the summer because of air conditioning use.

The ISO says supplies should be sufficient even during an extended heat wave, but the electrical company says construction and maintenance work scheduled on natural gas pipeline infrastructure could restrict delivery of natural gas to some gas-fired power plants in the region.

ISO also says the growth of small, off-the-grid solar energy systems may help to reduce overall electricity demand.
