Hadley resident charged with drunk driving after crashing into a utility pole

An off duty EMT stopped to check on the man

HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – Police in Hadley will be charging a resident with drunk driving after crashing his vehicle into a utility pole.

Hadley Police Sgt. Mitch Kuc told 22News just after 4 o’clock a 48 year old Hadley man hit a utility pole on South Maple Street.

An off duty EMT stopped to check on the man, who was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Two dogs were also in the vehicle. One of the dogs ran away, it’s a Yellow Lab. The other dog suffered some cuts and was taken to a veterinary hospital in South Deerfield.

The intersection of South Maple Street and Moody Bridge Road was closed to East Hadley Road for about an hour.
