Local businesses gathered to help fight hunger

Chefs from all across western Massachusetts donated their time

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Hundreds of people gathered at the Basketball Hall of Fame Friday night to raise money to stop hunger. The theme for the event was a 1950s bash.

Some of western Massachusetts top restaurants and chefs donated their dishes and time.

Andrew Morehouse, the Executive Director of The Food Bank, told 22News, “Its celebration of the community, because we rely on the community. We count on the community to help support our mission to help feed our neighbors in need and help lead the community out of hunger.”

22News Meteorologist Brian Lapis emceed Friday night’s event, and also served as celebrity auctioneer. All proceeds will go towards the Western Massachusetts Food Bank.

More than 211,000 people in the Pioneer Valley experience hunger.
