LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – A well-known hardware store in Longmeadow will be closing its current location and moving over the state line to Enfield, Connecticut. Brightwood Hardware will be joining forces with Pittsfield-based Carr Hardware to establish the new location on Route 5, which will be known as “Carr Hardware at Brightwood Center.”

In a news release sent to 22News, Ken Cohn of Brightwood Hardware said that leaving their Williams Street location provides them with a chance to expand. “We are excited that leaving the plaza has presented us with this growth opportunity. We have had a lot of fun at our current location and appreciate Big Y supporting Brightwood Hardware for many years. Big Y has been flexible with this transition and helpful in finding a new location,” Cohn said.

The new store in Enfield will feature double the space of Brightwood’s present location. Like all Carr Hardware stores, it will be part of the True Value co-op. It will also offer maintenance and repair services.

A liquidation sale at Brightwood Hardware in Longmeadow will begin on May 6. During that time, the store will be open on Sundays from 10:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M.

Carr Hardware currently has four locations in Berkshire County- in Pittsfield, North Adams, Lee, and Great Barrington. In addition to the Enfield store, they are also planning on opening a new location in Avon, Connecticut soon.
