Accident closed section of Rt. 47, caused outage in Hadley

279 people were without power, detour was posted

HADLEY, Mass. (WWLP) – A section of Route 47 was closed Friday night and dozens of people lost power after a car hit a utility pole in Hadley.

Hadley Police Dispatcher Rich Downie told 22News that the car hit a pole on River Drive near Mt. Warner Road at about 9:40 p.m. Friday. “A simple detour is posted. Eversource is there,” Downie said.

The Eversource Energy Outage Map indicted that 279 households were without power in Hadley at 11:00 p.m. Friday. By midnight, that number started to go down.

Downie didn’t know if the pole would have to be replaced. No one was hurt.
