A landmark documentary about mental illness premiered in Chicopee

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – A landmark documentary about mental illness premiered 100 cities across America Friday including Chicopee.

At the Chicopee public library, Staff and clients at the Stavros advocate agency for people with disabilities.

Were among the first to see “Healing Voices”. It’s a 90 minute documentary that chronicles the struggles of three individuals coping with their severe mental issues.

Jennifer Lee of Stavros calls “Healing Voices” a groundbreaking achievement helping to understand emotional problems. “That goes to challenge some of the medical models of doctors being experts sot of allows people with disabilities to have their own stories and tell their own stories.”
