Wilbraham police dog recovering from surgery for herniated discs

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A Wilbraham police dog is expected to eventually return to work after recovering from spinal surgery he underwent Wednesday night. According to the Wilbraham Police, K-9 Charon was brought to Eastfield Animal Hospital after experiencing some health issues during training. He was transferred to Tufts Veterinary Hospital in Grafton, where it was determined that he had two herniated discs.

His surgery went well, and he is expected to return to duty after a period of rehabilitation. On their official Facebook page Thursday morning, the police department expressed thanks for the thoughts, prayers, and well wishes that have been received in the past day.
