NORTHAMPTON, Mass. (WWLP) – Do you trust technology to manage your health? There’s an app for that. Apple just released new apps for the iPhone that aim to make keeping track of your health easier.
Everything from diabetes to pregnancy and even depression.
There’s hundreds of health apps on the App store or Google Play, but now apple wants to give developers a template and set of standards to build health apps where patients can input symptoms, track their own progress, and send reports directly to their doctor.
Katherine Lapuh, Sales Associate at YES Computers said, “It’s providing them with real time information or its aggregating data that they can analyze later. So this is really a great boon for the medical profession and not necessarily a tool for self-diagnosis.”
Others worry that relying too much of technology can lead to less reliable medical information, false diagnosis, and higher healthcare costs.
