Child injured after car crash in Agawam

Inbound traffic was squeezed to one lane

AGAWAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A child was hurt in a one-car crash on Monday that slowed the early evening commute from Agawam to Springfield.

A passenger car plowed through the cable barriers and ended up in the median on Route 57 in Agawam, near the rotary. The car was heavily damaged and the driver’s air bag deployed.

Massachusetts State Police told 22News a child suffered minor injuries.

Inbound traffic was squeezed to one lane, and backed up until the tow truck removed the wreck.

No word yet if any charges will be filed.
