A bust of longtime State Representative Anthony Scibelli was stolen from this pedestal outside the Mount Carmel Social Club in Springfield.

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Police are looking for a missing statue of a legendary Springfield state representative.

Springfield Police Lt. Stephen Wyszynski told 22News someone stole a bronze sculpture of the late Anthony Scibelli. “It was removed, not in a gentle manner,” said Lt. Wyszynski. “There was some damage to the base.”

Police believe the bust was taken from its pedestal outside the Mount Carmel Social Club some time in the last day or two.

Anthony Scibelli was known as “The Dean of the House,” and represented Springfield’s South End for 48 years. He died in 1998.
