WEST HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) – A dog walker accused of stealing nearly $38,000 worth of jewelry from one of her clients has been arrested.

Police said Friday that 33-year-old Kristina Cable, of East Hartford, turned herself over to authorities.

Police say jewelry went missing from the home of a West Hartford family that hired Cable as a dog walker. Police allege that Cable pawned the missing jewelry, valued at $37,994.

Authorities say Cable has a lengthy pawn transaction record, which they are investigating.

Cable worked for a dog-walking company out of Windsor that’s cooperating with the police investigation. Police didn’t identify the company.

Cable is charged with first-degree larceny. She was released on bail.

She’s due back in court on April 28.

A message left at a number listed for Cable wasn’t immediately returned.
