Salem police looking for suspect who shot at officer

SALEM, Mass. (AP) — Authorities are looking for a man who opened fire at a Salem police officer but missed.

The Salem News reports that police were searching The Point neighborhood on Thursday evening for a suspect described as a black man in his early 20s who was wearing a long-sleeve shirt and jeans.

Salem police put out an alert to other law enforcement agencies saying the suspect was last seen with a heavy-set, white woman who was driving a black Toyota.

Other details have not been released, including how many times the suspect shot at the officer. The officer has not been identified.
