Officer shot in North Austin, Texas SWAT situation

The officer shot was a SWAT team member and is in critical condition.

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Austin police are working a SWAT situation in North Austin where shots were reportedly fired.

Watch Command said an officer has been shot, and has non-life threatening injuries. According to Austin Police Chief, Art Acevedo, the officer shot is a SWAT team member who was struck by gunfire. The officer is currently in stable condition.

The suspect is in custody at this time, according to Acevedo.

The situation is developing at North Lamar Boulevard and the 800 block of Morrow Street. The area will be closed while police investigate.
