SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Two more suspects are being charged in connection with the killing of a Ludlow resident in Springfield last month.
Jim Leydon, spokesperson for the Hampden County District Attorney’s Office, told 22News that Matt Hastings, 17, of Ludlow was arraigned in Springfield District Court Thursday on charges related to the killing of Jeffrey Freitas. No bail was ordered by the judge.
Leydon said that there is a warrant out for the arrest of another suspect, but he did not have specific information on that suspect.
Ludlow Police Capt. David Belanger told 22News that Hastings was arrested Thursday morning in Ludlow, but he would not disclose exactly where.
A third man, Charles Sierra, has already been charged with murder for Freitas’ shooting death.
On March 26, Freitas was found dead inside a Chevrolet Camaro parked near the corner of Main Street and Sheldon Avenue. Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney said that the shooting may have been motivated by drugs.
