More than 300 grams of cocaine seized in Springfield drug bust

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Springfield Police Narcotics Detectives seized a significant amount of cocaine and cash Thursday night on Chestnut Street.

According to Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney, around 6:00 p.m., detectives raided a house on Chestnut Street and arrested 48-year-old Luis Santiago and 54-year-old Maria Serrano, who both live there.

Sgt. Delaney said detective confiscated 315 grams of cocaine, $15,025 in cash, and various implements used to package and distribute cocaine.

Santiago and Seranno are both charged with Trafficking in Cocaine in Excess of 200 Grams and Violation of a Drug Free Park Zone (Merrick Park). Sgt. Delaney said investigators started the legal process to seize about $20,000 held in a bank account by Santiago.

Both suspects are being held in police lock-up pending their arraignment in Springfield District Court.
