Wilbraham house fire leaves family, 2 dogs homeless

WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – A family in Wilbraham will have to find another place to stay Wednesday night after a house fire on Bridget Street.

Wilbraham Fire Captain Peter Nothe told 22News the fire started in an office room, towards the back of the one story house. A young woman was in the house with two dogs.

Capt. Nothe said the woman heard a pop noise coming from the back room. When she walked into the office, she saw fire coming from underneath the desk. She called 911 and got out of the house quickly with the two dogs.

The office room was destroyed and the rest of the house sustained significant smoke damage, Capt. Nothe said. The family will not be able to stay in the house Wednesday night.

Firefighters were able to quickly control the fire. Capt. Nothe said the fire appears to be electrical, but that has not been confirmed at this time.
