WILBRAHAM, Mass. (WWLP) – The warmer weather has more people getting outside, but it can be one of the most deadly times of the year on the roadways.
While motorcyclist are excited to get outside and take their first couple rides, it is important to remember that it is the start of the season.
Maintenance on the motorcycle should be checked before getting on the road, and riders should be wearing the proper gear.
Drivers must also start sharing the road with vehicles they may not have had an eye out for over the winter.
Wilbraham Police Sgt. Jeff Rudinski told 22News, “You know you really got to be on the lookout, motorcycles are real easy to miss. Look both ways, you know roads now especially are still sandy, there’s a lot of sand on the side of the roads. So you got to be extra cautious because if a motorcycle tries to pass you on the right a lot of sweepers haven’t been out yet.”
Some riders will put louder pipes on their motorcycles to make sure people hear them coming, but Massachusetts does have rules about excessive noise.
