SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Revitalize community Development Corporation kicked off its 4th annual green-n-fit neighborhood block rebuild month Wednesday.
Revitalize CDC’s goal this month is to fix up over 40 homes in Springfield with the help of sponsors and volunteers.
Revitalize CDC kicked off their work this month at the home of 82 year old Mattie Mayes of Lebanon St in Springfield.
The group announced today that volunteers from the MassMutual financial group will work on her home to make it safe to help preserve her independence and quality of life.
Mattie Mayes said, “I’ve been in this House for 60 years and so I couldn’t have done it right now, my husband is deceased.”
In the past year, Revitalize CDC has completed 53 home repairs on the homes of low-income families with children, elderly citizens, veterans, and people with special needs.
