SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – There was talk a couple months ago that the PVTA could cut back their van services, but on Wednesday they confirmed that is not the case.
The PVTA board voted to create a Saturday service to allow seniors more transportation options on the weekend. They also plan to get new transportation vans and designate them to certain senior or ADA stops, to improve on-time performance.
PVTA board member Richard Theroux told 22News, “No one wants to leave a senior at the bus stop without a ride to see their friends go to the store, go to the doctors. We have to continue to change what we’re doing at the PVTA to meet the challenges of our seniors.”
No word on when the new Saturday service will roll out, but the PVTA said it hopes within the next couple of months.
