HALIFAX, Mass. (WWLP) – Rescue crews in eastern Massachusetts were able to free a worker who became trapped in a collapsed trench.
The incident happened Tuesday morning in a residential area of Halifax, a town in Plymouth County.
Boston NBC affiliate WHDH-TV reports that the 50 year-old man is a worker with a contracting company. He was rescued after being stuck eight feet down the trench for more than an hour. Rescue workers set up a heater in order to prevent the man from succumbing to hypothermia.
He was airlifted to a Boston hospital, and is expected to survive.
