“Super Pill” blamed in 9 deaths

Florida's Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri says nine recent fatal overdoses were the result of a counterfeit Xanax tablet known as "Super Pills".

(WFLA) Authorities say a “super pill” and invading the streets of Pinellas County, Florida has killed nine people in a matter of weeks.

The pill looks just like a Xanax, but it’s mixed with a powerful pain medication called Fentanyl, commonly prescribed to cancer patients. The combination of Xanax and Fentanyl is so potent that it’s killing people within minutes.

“You don’t have to take a handful of them. All you gotta do is take one, and you’re dead,” Sheriff Bob Gualtieri warns.
