WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Demolition began Tuesday on the building formally known as the Standard Plating Company in West Springfield.
The building was significantly damaged by the 2011 tornado and has been abandoned. The nearly 11,000 square-foot building was located at 964 Main Street.
Crews will work for the next few days to tear it down. Once the lot is completely cleared out, the city will sell the property.
They received funds from the Department of Housing and Community Development to rehabilitate areas that were damaged by the tornado.
