The Healy’s bring Irish sounds to downtown Springfield

Well-established local group performed at Tower Square Thursday

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Here in western Massachusetts, the sound of Irish music plays an important part in the St. Patrick’s Day celebration. The legendary Irish troubadours, The Healy’s, entertained the lunch crowd at Tower Square in downtown Springfield.

Selecting tunes from the vast repertoire of hundreds of Irish melodies, The Healy’s are a western Massachusetts musical mainstay.

Sheila Sullivan Healy has her favorites. “A few that I like very much. One was written by Johnny Cash, It’s called 40 Shades of Green, so every time I go to Ireland, I start singing Johnny Cash,” Healy said.

The Healy’s have been in all their St. Patrick’s Day glory for more than 40 years, and their fans follow them from everywhere!
