CHICOPEE, Mass. (Mass Appeal) – In today’s edition of Pet of the Week, we introduce you to Brownie, a 9-month-old, black, tan, and brown cat. Lee Chambers is here from Dakin Humane Society to tell us more about Brownie.
Beautiful Brownie came to Dakin the other day because someone in her family had allergy problems. They told us that she is a very sweet kitty who has lived with a man, woman and a one-year old. She was very good with the baby and they played together. Brownie was an indoor cat with this family and they described her as friendly, quiet, independent, a lap cat and very affectionate once she gets to know you. Come meet her at Dakin’s Springfield Adoption & Education Center.
Community Cats – Want to help homeless, outdoor cats? In the month of April, Dakin Humane Society is performing spay/neuter surgery on a limited number of community cats thanks to a grant from PetSmart Charities. Community cats are outdoor, unowned cats who you usually see roaming around either alone or with a couple of other cats. When they reproduce, it just adds to the homeless animal population, and that’s what we’re trying to prevent! If you can humanely trap these kitties and bring them to Dakin, we’ll perform the spay/neuter surgery for free, then you can return them to their outdoor community. Call 413.781.4019 to book an appointment and mention “Community Cats” to get the surgery performed without charge!
