Overnight Ludlow shooting victim has died

The suspect ran down Cady Street following the shooting

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – A 26-year-old man who was shot overnight on Cady Street in Ludlow has died.

That shooting occurred in a parking lot outside of the Open Door Cafe in Ludlow, which is located at 247 Cady Street, near West Street and Lombard Road.

Ludlow Police Sgt. Brian Shameklis told 22News the victim was sitting in the passenger seat of a white BMW outside of the bar around 12:45 Sunday morning. A man then approached the car, and started shooting at it, wounding the victim.

Officers found the victim was unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to Baystate Medical Center by ambulance. At around 6 P.M. Sunday, Ludlow Police Sgt. Daniel Valadas told 22News that the victim had died from his wounds.

The suspect ran down Cady Street following the shooting; police are still searching for that person.

Several police officers and state troopers were at the Open Door Café for more than eight hours Sunday morning to try and figure out what led up to the shooting. Police haven’t said whether anyone else was inside the car at the time of the shooting.

Investigators believe this was an isolated incident.
