Gunshots were fired on four different streets in Springfield

A man was stabbed in the arm on Belmont Avenue in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Gunshots were fired on four different streets in Springfield overnight.

Springfield Police Lt. Scott Richard told 22News a man was shot outside of 2433 Main Street in Springfield shortly after 3:30 Sunday morning.

The victim walked into Baystate Medical Center with a gunshot wound to the lower part of his body. Lt. Richard said he has been cooperating with police, and is expected to be ok. Police are still trying to figure out what led up to the shooting.

Lt. Richard said about an hour later, a man was stabbed in the arm on Belmont Avenue in Springfield around 4:30 Sunday morning,. He’s also expected to be ok.

Shotspotters were also activated on State Street, Leyfred Terrace, and Plainfield Street in Springfield.

There were no victims in those shootings.
