Shriner’s Italian dinner benefits charity efforts

The Shriners are widely recognized for their charity

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The good works of the Melha Shriner’s were highlighted Saturday night during a dinner feast in Springfield.

Held at the Butterfield auditorium on Longhill Street, people enjoyed a meal of chicken francaise. The $15 a ticket donation from the night’s Italian American Club dinner went to benefit the Melha Shriner’s Italian Club.

The Shriner’s is an organization of men who volunteer to help children and participate in local events like Melha Shrine Circus, the Chowder Bowl, and the Springfield carnival.

22News spoke with the Ray Turrini, the Shriner’s Chief Rabban, about the significance of these fundraisers. “We get together to do our second annual dinner tonight, to help the club raise funds, so that we can continue to help our hospitals here in Springfield and the 22 hospitals across the country.”

The Shriners are widely recognized for their charity. You can help support the work they do at their next benefit event, which will be an Irish night on March 19th.
