Dogs searched for suspects who robbed teens in Ludlow

The robbery appeared to be random

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Wilbraham Police loaned Ludlow Police the service of their K-9 to search for three teens suspected in an armed robbery Friday night.

Ludlow Police Sgt, Mike Gilrein told 22News the two teens, a boy and a girl, were approached by three teen-age boys on Highland Place at about 7:00 p.m. Friday. “There was the mention of a gun, and the three teens took a backpack from the two victims,” Sgt. Gilrain said.

No one was hurt. Police searched the area and borrowed the Wilbraham Police Dog Unit to help with the search, but the dog lost the scent.

Sgt. Gilrein said the robbery appeared to be random, and he did not believe the victims knew the teens who took the backpack. He did not believe there was anything of extraordinary value in the backpack.

“It’s unusual for something like this to happen in Ludlow,” Gilrein told 22News. “Seems random.”

The suspects are described as white, between 17 and 18 years old.
