New specialized care office opens in Greenfield

Franklin County patients won't have to travel far for specialized care

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Patients seeking specialized care in Franklin County will no longer have to travel to Northampton and Springfield to get that care.

Monday night marked the grand opening of a brand new medical office within the the main building of Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield.

Patients needing Specialized Heart, Vascular, Infectious Disease Testing and  Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine care can now receive that care in Greenfield.

Baystate Health vice president of Cardio Vascular Services, Dr. Aaron Kugelmass told 22News this office will offer world class care throughout western Massachusetts.

“This is the culmination of a dream,” said Dr. Kugelmass.  “We’ve been talking about this for years, whereby we can deliver as much nationally recognized cardio vascular care at a local level.  And then, if some thing else is required, the patient can travel to Springfield.  All of the doctors practice both here and in Greenfield.”

Dr. Kugelmass went on to say that the new Greenfield office will be electronically linked to the “informatics” and diagnostic testing throughout the Baystate Health Systems.

The goal is to keep care local up north for the convenience of the patients.
