(KNWA) Hundreds of dogs are receiving medical care after Arkansas sheriff’s deputies served a search and seizure warrant at a Madison County home that doubled as a commercial dog breeding facility.

“We’ve had puppy mills before, nothing on this size,” Madison County Sheriff Phillip Morgan said.

The department teamed up with Humane Society of the United States to conduct the seizure. The agency says a tips line phone call lead to the seizure.

“What’s particularly interesting about Arkansas, is there are no state law regulations for dog breeders. So here you’re really looking for evidence of cruelty or neglect,” the Humane Society’s Amanda Gossom said.
