Bishop Rozanski issued statement on the death of Officer Ashley Guindon

Bishop is participating in funeral Mass for fallen officer

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Bishop Mitchell Rozanski of the Diocese of Springfield will participate in Monday’s funeral Mass for Officer Ashley Guindon. The Prince William County, Virginia police officer was killed in the line of duty last week. Guindon was born in Springfield, and spent the first years of her life in western Massachusetts, where some of her family members still live.

In advance of Monday’s Mass at Sacred Heart Church, Bishop Rozanski released the following statement:

As we mourn Officer Ashley Guindon’s tragic death, I join with our western Massachusetts community in expressing my sympathy to her Mom, Sharon and to her entire family.  Ashley represents the best in humanity, serving in the United States Marine Corps Reserve and as a newly sworn in officer of the Prince William County Police Department in Virginia.  Her life was spent in service to others and her death reminds us of the sacrifice that our law enforcement officers live every day for our protection.  May Ashley rest in the peace of our Risen Lord and may our tribute to her be shown in the ways we are called to reach out in service to others. ” – Bishop Mitchell Rozanski
