WARE, Mass. (WWLP) – Community Reading Day in the town of Ware Friday helped school children further their love of books.
It has been many years since 22News reporter Sy Becker first began participating in this longstanding program at the public schools in this eastern Hampshire County town. Even with so many electronic alternatives to reading from books, sixth grader Emily Reyes told 22News why she prefers reading from a book.
“I love reading with a book in my hands, flipping the pages. I don’t really go on my tablet, a book in my hand I’ll sit in my room and I’ll read,” Reyes said.
Sy Becker was one of more 20 men and women who volunteered their time to encourage the children to devote more of their time to reading books.
