Mass. inmate escapes day before release date

BOSTON (WPRI) — Maybe Leap Day confused Barthesday Deberry.

The Massachusetts Department of Corrections said Deberry walked away from a work assignment Tuesday morning.

Deberry was being housed at the Boston Pre-Release Center and was due to be released tomorrow (Wednesday, March 2, 2016).

The department said Deberry was serving five years to five years and one day for a felony involving a firearm.

He’s described as 5’6″ tall, weighing about 175 pounds.

His last known address was New York City.
