WESTFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Residents and students met at Westfield High School to learn about opioid addiction treatment and prevention.
Westfield Schools Superintendent Dr. Suzanne Scallion told 22News these forums have a goal of keeping families safe and informed about a crisis that affects all walks of life.
“We have families in our city that are really suffering right now that have lost beloved, wonderful members of our community, through no fault of their own, other than they were addicts, and it’s a horrific disease,” said Dr. Scallion.
Tuesday’s meeting follows 3 opioid overdose deaths in Westfield, one of them being a Westfield High School student. Dr. Scallion plans to hold monthly forums, with a different theme every month.
