PITTSFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Michael Bloomberg is running for the Massachusetts Legislature.

No, not that Michael Bloomberg.

This Michael Bloomberg is a 2008 graduate of Pittsfield High School and a 2012 graduate of the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He confirms to The Berkshire Eagle that he plans to challenge for the Democratic nomination for the 3rd Berkshire District House seat currently held by state Rep. Tricia Farley-Bouvier.

He says he is related to former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. They are first cousins, once removed — his father and the former mayor are cousins.

Farley-Bouvier is running for re-election to the seat she has held since 2011.

Pittsfield City Councilor Christopher Connell is running for the seat as an independent.
