EAST LONGMEADOW, Mass. (WWLP) – Most people 22News spoke with on Monday did not have a problem with the milder month we experienced, but they wouldn’t want to have a winter like this all the time.
Some people are already putting their snow plows and shovels aside and firing up the grills instead. February just did not meet New England’s winter standards this year.
For Paul Mencaromi of East Longmeadow, he didn’t mind, “I like the mild temperatures because I can sit outside in the sun, its nice.”
Most days this February were above the average, which is in the lower 30’s. Ten days this month were in the 50’s and 60’s. Surprisingly with all the warmer days this month, we’ve made up for the snow that didn’t fall in January.
Even though we didn’t have one major snowstorms, all of the minor snowstorms certainly added up. Average February snowfall in western Massachusetts is almost a foot; we got almost 11 inches in February.
Rocky’s Ace Hardware in East Longmeadow is already putting the spring gear in the aisles, including, fertilizer, fire pits, and gardening tools. 22News talked to assistant manager, John Guido, who said they have been busy putting the winter gear away; “It has been the earliest we’ve been getting ready for spring I mean didn’t have much of a winter spring showed up pretty early than when we thought.”
Rocky’s Ace Hardware is still keeping the winter supplies close. March is a month where we could possibly still see some snow before spring begins.
