Baystate lectures provide heart health education

1.5-million Americans will suffer a stroke or heart attack this year

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It’s been estimated that almost 1.5-million Americans will suffer a stroke or heart attack this year.

That’s why many men and women concerned about their health attended Sunday’s Baystate Medical Center’s Heart Month lecture series. For years, Sundays during February have meant time out to attend these talks at Baystate’s Education Center in Holyoke.

John Reed from Chicopee said, “Obviously, all of us need to know about our hearts, and what can happen if you’re not well informed. We came and enjoyed it, my wife and I, and I came to each of them.”

Doctors from Baystate Medical Center’s Cardiac Surgery Department provide the information to what have been well attended sessions during the month-long programs.
