Lost women found safe on Mount Sugarloaf

Part of Sugarloaf Street off of Route 116 was blocked off

SOUTH DEERFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Two women who got lost during a hike on on Mount Sugarloaf have been found.

South Deerfield Fire Captain Adam Sokoloski told 22News the call came in just after 6 o’clock.

Two women who went for a walk couldn’t’ find their way back to their car.

Captain Sokoloski told 22News the women were not hurt and never in any danger. Rescuers worked to locate the women both on the ground and with a UTV with assistance from the Greenfield Fire Department.

Part of Sugarloaf Street off of Route 116 was blocked off and the state police were notified to send their helicopter, which arrived shortly after the women were found.

Captain Sokoloski said the Environmental Police also assisted with an ATV.
