NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — A man who authorities say stabbed a woman more than 50 times in front of one of her four sons in Connecticut has been sentenced to 35 years behind bars.
The Hartford Courant reports 27-year-old Mario Rivera pleaded guilty to murder last year. He was sentenced Thursday in New Britain Superior Court.
Authorities say Rivera told police he was high on PCP and didn’t mean to kill 29-year-old Shenia Walker in her Bristol home on April 3rd, 2013.
The judge says she was struck by how “vicious” the attack was on the mother of Rivera’s children. Rivera fathered two of Walker’s sons. The boys are now being raised by their mother’s sister.
