WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – After receiving a call from a viewer, 22News went down to Dewey and Morgan Roads, and found at least a dozen homes where the mailboxes had been knocked down.
We spoke with one resident, Joan Merlo, who said she called the city and wants them to foot the bill. “The problem is I want my mailbox. The same one that was destroyed, not a cheaper one. If they don’t get back to me within a few days, I’ll just go to Home Depot, buy the same one and give them a bill.”
West Springfield DPW Director Robert Coulson told 22News residents should fill out a claim form for their mailbox at the town clerk’s office, or online. They can write down the value of the mailbox, and the city will work to either reimburse them or get a replacement.
