Springfield firefighters put out fire at Garvey Drive home

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – The Springfield Arson and Bomb Squad is looking into the cause of a fire in the city’s Sixteen Acres neighborhood Tuesday afternoon.

Dennis Leger, aide to the Springfield fire commissioner, told 22News that a neighbor called after noticing the fire at 63 Garvey Drive at around 2:20 P.M.

The home did sustain damage to the basement and the exterior, as well as to the interior of the upper floors, though the firefighters were able to get everything under control.
