Greenfield medical marijuana dispensary still not opened

Plans to serve an estimated 640 patients once they opened

GREENFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Greenfield will be home to a medical marijuana dispensary at some point this year.

The Zoning Board of Appeals approved Patriot Care Corporation to operate a dispensary in town last March. Patriot Care Corporation bought the American Legion building for about $220,000.

22News wanted to find out when, exactly, Patriot Care plans to open a dispensary in Greenfield. Eric Twarog from the Greenfield Department of Planning and Development told 22News, they had expected the dispensary to be up and running by this point. Patriot Care has until March of 2017 to open because that’s when their special permit will lapse.

One Orange resident told 22News, having a dispensary in Greenfield would be good for Franklin County. “Because I think that it would open up a lot of avenues for alternative healing, holistic healing, discussion, in general, of our health care system and how to make it a better functioning system,” said Michelle Bisaillon of Orange.

However, not everyone agrees. Anya Bartanyan of Greenfield said, “I just think it’s easier to get than it should be and a lot more people will start doing it.”

Patriot Care plans to serve an estimated  640 patients once they open a medical marijuana dispensary in Greenfield.  We called patriot Care’s Corporate Offices to find out their time table to open their Greenfield dispensary. We’re waiting to hear back.
