SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – It was a long weekend for some students that could go even longer.

Students from several schools in western Mass. communities, including Springfield, Holyoke, and Chicopee, had last Friday off due to snow. Then they called off school for Monday in anticipation of snow. Some schools also have winter vacation next week.

Parents told 22News it can be difficult to change their schedule when the kids are off from school.

Amarilys Santiago of Springfield said, “It’s not good for us, I know that now they have to stay here at home and it’s really hard to find someone to watch over them and take care of them”

Marielis Santiago of Springfield said, “Well, I go to a vocational school and this was supposed to be my shop week, and then after shop week, we go to vacation, and then we go back to academic week which is not fair. I don’t like academic week.”

What will they do on the days off? Most kids said they will be sledding or getting outside as much as they can.
