Officials: No foul play suspected in UMass student death

AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Officials say the death of a student from New Hampshire who fell out of a fourth-floor window at a Massachusetts university is not suspicious.

James Tilley, of Windham, New Hampshire, fell out of a window at University of Massachusetts Amherst at around 2 a.m. Friday. The 21-year-old Tilley was a senior majoring in physics and math.

University spokesman Edward Blaguszewski tells The Boston Globe that he doesn’t know whether the building was open at the time.

Blaguszewski says the incident is not suspicious and foul play is not suspected.

Authorities are investigating the fall. A state medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
