4 forced out of their homes in Ludlow fire

LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) –  At least four people are without a home, following an early morning apartment fire in Ludlow. The apartment complex is located at the corner of Center Street and Joy Street.

Ludlow Fire Captain Ricky Machado told 22News that the fire destroyed two units. Machado said he believes there were three people in the apartment where the fire started, and one in the unit next door.

Three people were taken to the hospital for what Machado called minor injuries.

All other residents of the apartment complex were initially evacuated, but have since been allowed back into their homes.

The State Fire Marshal’s office is now looking into what caused the fire. Captain Machado said the firefighters did a tremendous job putting the fire out, quickly reducing the number of units to which the fire was able to spread.
