CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – Monday was just the beginning of a snowy and cold week in western Mass. Here are some tips on how to protect your home.
First, make sure oil tanks are filled, and carbon monoxide and smoke detectors are checked and ready to go.
Also, freezing pipes become an issue too; you don’t want to have your pipes burst. Agawam Fire Deputy Fire Chief B.J. Calvi told 22News, “If it is super cold out and your worried about your pipes freezing under your sink, you can open the cabinets and let some warm air in there “
If you need extra heat, gas stoves and ovens are not meant to heat your home. It sounds like common sense, but we see those types of incidents each year.
If you plan on using a space heat, remember it needs space. Keep anything that can burn 3 feet away.
