Springfield teen shot while meeting someone he met online

His wounds are not life-threatening

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – A Springfield teenager was shot this weekend while meeting someone he met online.

Springfield Police Sgt. John Delaney said a 17 year old boy walked into the hospital emergency room after getting shot.

His wounds are not life-threatening.

Sgt. Delaney said the teen likely met someone on Herbert Avenue, where police found money on the ground.

He met the person online and was meeting in person to buy an expensive piece of clothing.

The teen ended up getting jumped and robbed by three or four unknown suspects and the teen was shot once.

Sgt. Delaney said so far no one has been arrested, and the victim is not cooperating with police.
