NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) — Authorities have released the identity of a woman who was killed when the car she was driving struck a tree.
Police say 20-year-old Naika Nicol Rosa-Rosa, of Meriden, lost control of her vehicle early Saturday morning at the intersection near the Episcopal Church of St. Paul and St. James.
Police say they were attempting to pull over Rosa-Rosa’s car when it skidded off the road. They didn’t provide further details.
Rosa-Rosa died at the scene.
A passenger, 34-year-old Wandallz Valle-Quinonez, of Middletown, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital. There’s no word on his current condition.
Connecticut State Police are investigating the crash at the request of New Haven police.
Police said Saturday that speed and weather conditions appear to have been factors in the crash.
