HOLYOKE, Mass. (WWLP) – The Holyoke Saint Patrick’s Parade Committee held their annual awards dinner Saturday night.
The dinner is a night of appreciation for distinguished parade committee members, volunteers, community members and businesses whose accomplishments have been honored with awards that have been distributed in the lead up to the parade.
Among them, Dinn Brothers, who is receiving the citizenship award. Marc Joyce was given the Rohan award, Jim Wildman is the O’Connell Award winner and the Gallivan award was given to Sue Doran.
One award winner told 22News what it means to live in the city with this size of parade celebrating St. Patrick’s Day. “Being Irish from Holyoke growing up in the parade give you a sense of purpose for the weekend. It’s truly a great city to grow up in,” said James Wildman O’Connell Award Winner.
The Holyoke St. Patrick’s parade will observe its 65th anniversary when the marchers step off at noon, on Sunday March 20th.
